The miniature chests were designed in 1952. George Nelson was fascinated by traditional Japanese design. The piece shown here is meant to resemble tansu, traditional Japanese cabinets.

This cabinet with sliding doors was produced by EmmeBi in 1999. The sliding doors are covered with transparent polycarbonate. The woman on the doors is the iconic Marilyn Monroe as depicted by Andy Warhol. Special permission had to be granted by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the image to be used.
